ABBA - SUPER TROOPERS

They are back! One of the country’s first tribute bands.

The Super Troupers (or The Troupers as they have become known)
was one of the country’s first tribute bands, never mind Abba! The band
was formed in 1990 at Sunderland Polytechnic to both quench the thirst
for a soon all conquering revival and also earn some decent beer
money. Two gigs at ‘The Royalty’ later, and the band were to be seen
supporting the newly reformed Bay City Rollers up and down the country.

Since then, the band has gone from strength to strength, becoming renowned as a superb live act, with the rocky edge that Abba became famous for on their groundbreaking world tours. The band has toured extensively in Europe, the Middle East and of course all over the UK. They have played support to Jools Holland, the late Ian Dury (& the Blockheads), Light-
ning Seeds, Norman Cook, The Selector, Atomic Kitten, Bucks Fizz and Showaddywaddy, to name but a few.

FRANCIS THE HOLY JESTER

                                                                   Picture Fabbio Pirazzi

Performed by Mario Pirovano

Written and directed by Dario Fo

Italy's most important living playwright shows us some remarkable episodes from the life of one of the world's best-loved saints, Saint Francis of Assisi. The play is a delightful slice of life, medieval Italy, full of relevance for our lives today.

A tale that brings together courtiers, Popes, Cardinals, generals and peasants, Saints and sinners, and Jesus himself in a great pageant of characters brought to life through a remarkable performance that sparks the imagination and delights the soul.

This production is the most entertaining and funny history lesson you could hope to see, given a captivating performance by the charismatic Pirovano.’ David Chadderton ***** British Theatre Guide

‘Pirovano’s performance, and his ability, are astounding… I recommend it whole-heartedly and completely.’ Chris Hislop ***** Fringe Review
